Parliament Debates Issue of Election for Member of Audit Chamber

On January 17, the National Assembly continued the work of the regular sittings. The issue of the election for the member of the Audit Chamber was debated. The NA President Alen Simonyan informed that pursuant to Article 145 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs nominated the candidacy of Gagik Barseghyan to the National Assembly for the vacancy of the member of the Audit Chamber by the Civil Contract Faction.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gevorg Papoyan informed that the Committee received proposal of one candidacy from the NA factions, debated and endorsed Gagik Barseghyan’s candidacy. Gevorg Papoyan presented the candidate’s biography, work path and the human qualities.

Gagik Barseghyan is a specialist on economist-accounting and finances, candidate of economy. He took part in dozens of courses abroad to develop professional capabilities and qualities, gave lectures. From 2002 he worked an expert in the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Economic Affairs, afterwards - in the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs. From January 2016 Gagik Barseghyan is a coordinating-expert of the NA Budget Office, who heads that structure.

“I would like to assure that, being based on my knowledge, experience and skills, I am at best ready to be engaged with all works, which will promote having a higher audit body appropriate to the international standards in the Republic of Armenia,” Gagik Barseghyan noted in his speech.

He thanked the NA Civil Contract Faction and the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs for nominating his candidacy, touched upon the role of the independent and professional higher audit bodies and the directions of their activities. The candidate presented his vision how carry out the work for developing the abovementioned hard sphere.

Afterwards, the parliament by voting passed the draft laws debated on the previous day.
